Special thoughts
Wow! We have made it to Scandinavia! And we have to go home......forgot the wine glasses! We had a steady drive down to catch the ferry at Harwich, plenty of holiday traffic, Flatford mill constable country was a joy and easy way to kill an hour or so before the ferry.
We were all in hysterics with Pete and Dora (sat Nav) when we left Flatford everytime Pete said international port shethkught he said special thoughts!
Jude sat up front was so excited to board the ferry, it made all the planning wotth it !!!!We were impressed with the cabin huge window and sea view! With an an suite!!!! Lastn
Bit of luxury for 4 weeks. We managed to stay up till 11 pm for setting sail, the lorry drivers entertained us with the speedy revesing and handbreak turns, and we were treated to a blood moon.
a little mouse with clogs on..... Driving through the Netherlands'swe we saw the odd windmill and bicycle and plenary of greenhouse but a disappointing lack of clogs!
A nice welcome met us at Hanse camping Breman, and we pitched tent in scorching heat! The boys were keen to swim in the lake with big beaches, it was a huge mistake that we entered what must have been the biggest nuddist beach in Europe and by the time we realised it was not just the odd person but everyone we have crossed the Rubicon and just had to keep going nochalentley , commenting on what nice bicycles people had!!
just as I was about to close my eyes on the beach for decent folk with their clothes on they all came back out of the lake, the smell if sulphur and poor visibility shortening the dip.
After tea we cycled into Breman keen to see the statue of the towns musicians ,after the boys had read the story! which was outside a building completely covered a in scaffolding .
The ride was beautiful through lovely huge parks and tree lined streets with late residences.
An early start with 6 hours driving ahead mostly on Motorways , the boys managed well the rest areas are great, and we had the joy of seeing what we think was the garbage rally going in the opposite direction ,we saw some mad cars!.
So here we are at cold Hawaii we the light us beautiful, have cycled to the beach and the boys love the playpark and funny go carts !
Looking forward to no driving tommorow and hopefully a bit of surfing!

Ready?- nearly, steady? bit wobbly! GO!
You need to be careful what you watch on the telly!, way back in January 2014 I watched the Hairy Bikers and Hugh F.W, both featured trips around Scandinavia and a seed was sown!
.........................................fast forward to this morning and I have left my lovely comfortable bed for the last time in four weeks, the five of us are off on a Scandinavian road trip adventure, there has been plenty of planning!! and preparation! we have made plenty of lists and checked them twice!!! the van is almost packed, all we have to do is tidy up the house!!! for our lovely friend and house sitter and have a meat and 2 veg and gravy dinner,..........its pasta and rice for a month now!
As we have made our plans it feels like we have had to throw out a few things out of the basket to lighten the load, ........................................Trailer- (pete has engineered a really great bike rack that we can lower and still open the back door of the van) Canadian canoe!!! (which we don't even own anyway) and Finland!
Pete has done a great job turning the builders van into something much nicer that a builders van!
